Rabbi Avram Mlotek

Avram Mlotek is a rabbi, cantor, actor and writer. A grandchild of Holocaust refugees and Yiddish cultural leaders, he is the author of Why Jews Do That or 30 Questions Your Rabbi Never Answered and Passover in a Pandemic.
A co-founder of Base, Mlotek serves as Mashgiach Ruchani or Spiritual Director for the Base movement at large and served as the inaugural Base rabbi for New York City. Mlotek grew up performing on the Yiddish stage and his Yiddish cultural work has brought
him to Sweden, Romania, China, Australia and Israel. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Daily News and every major Jewish publication. Mlotek has been named by The Forward as one of “America’s Most Inspiring
Rabbis” and listed as a leading innovator in Jewish life today by The New York Jewish Week’s “36 Under 36.” A graduate of Brandeis University and Yeshivat Chovevei Torah, he is completing a Masters of Social Work at Fordham University and is a first year resident
