MEET
Rabbi Lonnie Kleinman

Lonnie is a recent grad of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and a chaplain resident at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania. Originally from Tohomo O’odham land, aka Tucson, AZ, Lonnie is a queer, fat femme. Before moving to Philadelphia, on Lenape Land, Lonnie organized Jewish communities throughout the Southern United States in their journeys to build power and equity for all peoples. She is passionate about relational organizing and pastoral care in dreaming a future together. She loves gathering inspiration for dreaming and living out this world through Queer Talmud study and is currently a fellow in SVARA: a traditionally radical yeshivah’s teaching Kollel. She loves talking and learning about the teachings of Mordechai Kaplan, care work as a spiritual practice, and God! She is trained in spiritual direction and has a daily meditation practice. She loves making art and finding inspiration for art practice in midrash and tanakh. Lastly, she is a mom to her pup kaya and cat harvey milk.
