KENNENLERNEN

Rabbi Alyson Solomon

Shalom! I’d love to meet you where you are and go deeper.

I am passionate about Judaism as a vibrant wisdom tradition and technology of meaning-making. To me, spirituality consists of asking questions that matter, then living courageously in line with what we hear.

I have built community in Santa Barbara, Cape Town and San Diego and as a Street Rabbi in Venice, CA, while drafting and designing NuRoots, a $20-million dollar Los Angeles initiative to engage 20s & 30s. A Phi Beta Kappa from Occidental College, I was ordained by Hebrew College Rabbinical School in Boston.

I bring skills in action-based coaching, certification as a yoga instructor and practice as a change-management consultant. I am a courage coach with a focus on supporting individuals and organizations to build, deepen and apply their own custom spiritual tool box.

Perhaps of interest —

• At Occidental College I studied diplomacy and world affairs with a focus on human rights. I minored in Rastafarianism.

• I wrote my honors thesis on Jacobo Timerman, the Argentine Journalist for Justice.

• I was awarded a Richter International Fellowship to study the Jews of India.

• I’ve published two children’s book - "Thank You, Modeh Ani" and "Listen, Sh’ma" and am working on my next.

• To read/watch more of my Salty Torah - https://www.thisisras.com/blog.

As far as roots and wings/fins —

I am a native of Portland, Oregon, influenced by my grandparents love of Israel and my parents' sense of awe. I am a traveler, lover of text, swimming and soulful living. Most importantly, I am blessed to be a solo mama of two vibrant little ones and, oh, I love a good burger.

Blessings on your journey. 🧿 RAS
