MEET
Sara Klugman

Sara is a teacher, poet, avid reader, dancer and lover of the weird in our texts and traditions. As a teacher, she is interested in teaching the beautiful, the redemptive, and the difficult. Sara has often taught pieces of tradition sanitized and removed from the traditions -- such as teaching on Jewish demons and Jewish magic.

Sara holds a Bachelor’s degree in religious studies from Carleton College, with a focus on dance and performance studies. She also holds a Masters in Arts in Education from Harvard Graduate School. Informed by a background in arts education, artistic practice, and meditative practice, Sara is interested in the possibility of the sacred in all forms of study -- and seeks to bring this possibility into the classroom.

As a teacher, Sara believes that learning should be relational: vital, human, and relevant to those learning. Sara understands learning as research -- that a sense of curiosity should guide teacher and student through a process of mutual and ongoing discovery. In her classroom, artistic exploration and written reflection are important parts of the learning process. Experientially, Sara believes in reading and studying as contemplative practice.
