Rabbi Jeremy Markiz (he/him) is a teacher, writer, and consultant. Currently, based in the Washington, DC area, he focuses on Torah rooted in personal growth, kindness, intentionality, and bettering the world. He believes that every text we encounter has something to teach us. He writes the With Torah and Love newsletter and recently published his first book, "A Better World is Possible: A Collection of Mediations."
From personal experience, he knows that learning Jewish text can be difficult and intimidating, which is why he believes that Torah should be accessible to everyone. We're all on a journey of knowledge, understanding, and engaging with the Tradition as we know it and co-creating its future.
Markiz grew up in Portland, OR, and graduated from the University of Oregon. He was ordained from the Ziegler School in 2016, and served a congregation in Pittsburgh, PA in 2016-2021. During his tenure there, he ran a weekly Talmud class from the local coffee shop. Since 2021, he also runs his own consulting firm that works with clergy, congregations, and Jewish organizations grow and communicate clearly in the digital world, develop effective strategies, and solve problems. He co-founded ExploringJudaism.org with the Rabbinical Assembly and the USCJ in 2022.
