After spending two years living in Jerusalem and studying at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, Elyssa moved to Manhattan where she received a MA in Jewish Experiential Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. She is always thinking and talking about Jewish rituals, and would love to nerd out with you! One ritual she loves is learning about the Torah portion we read every week, and then writing down her thoughts on it. She has started learning with Project 929, where she'll be reading a chapter of the Tanakh (Torah, Prophets, and Writings) basically every day for the next 3 years, and she's geeked on it! Elyssa made an Instagram @talestorahtells, where she is constantly trying to balance pushing the boundaries of traditions and keeping their essence, specifically through an internationally virtual community.
When she's not annotating her Tanakh with a color-coded system she created, you can find her crocheting random things, making spreadsheets of nerdy things, talking with people about the Shmitah year, baking, and re-organizing the spice cabinet. Ask her whatever questions you've got, and if she doesn't know the answer then she'll ask around and see where they can be found!
