MEET

Rabbi Lara Haft Yom-Tov

Hi, I’m Lara, a community rabbi and Jewish educator based in London, though I’m originally from Rockville, MD. I love studying Mishnah, Talmud, and Halakhah with learners of all backgrounds. I know first-hand how easy it is to feel alienated and intimidated when staring at unfamiliar texts. I also know the delight of diving into torah learning with open curiosity, a sense of humor, and a good chevruta.

I have two passions as a teacher. First, I love helping people build the skill of reading and interpreting Jewish texts, whatever their level, knowledge of Hebrew/Aramaic, or learning style. Secondly, I love connecting ancestral Jewish texts to conversations about political theory, exploring themes of world-building, land justice, and self-determination in Jewish law.
