Rabbi Lauren Ben-Shoshan

Born in Washington DC, Lauren graduated from the College of William and Mary with degrees in History and Religion, where she was honored with the Benjamin Stoddert Ewell Award for Leadership and Service and John Van Horn Award for Academic Excellence. Lauren was ordained as a rabbi at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute for Religion. There, she also earned a Masters in Religious Education through the Mandel Fellowship.

After the birth of her four children, Lauren developed an academic and personal interest in early childhood education, parenting, and homeschooling. Additionally, Lauren’s passions include both everyday and loss-related grief, and the intersection between technology and ethics. (In recent years, she pursued software engineering to dive further into understanding this area.)

Lauren’s personal interests include admiring high art and creating poorly made freestyle cross-stitch. Lauren lives with her husband Alon, their four children, and one rather fluffy dog named Truffle in Truckee, California, where they all love snow sports, kayaking, and traveling as much as they can.
