“What does it look like to cultivate a life that honors and thrives as part of interconnected spiritual ecosystems?”
Hi there, my name is Heather Shore (she/her), and this question about spiritual ecosystems is at the core of my rabbinic work. There are so many points of connection in our lives that can help ground us and bolster our ability to thrive even when our world feels more and more broken by the day. I believe in approaching Jewish learning with an eye to the many networks of wisdom that inform how we move through the world as our fullest selves, and for me that means making space not just for intellectual insights but somatic and spiritual insights in a learning relationship as well. I invite you to bring your full self to a learning space we build together. Together, we can approach the topics that you choose to study with a compassionate and non-judgmental willingness to read Jewish wisdom through the lens of our full selves.
A bit more about me: I was ordained by HUC-JIR in 2023, and I am currently pursuing an additional master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling & Spiritual Integration through Fordham University’s Graduate School of Religion. I am passionate about integrative, creative, relational, and accessible modalities of Jewish spiritual support that foster personal resilience and communal care. Some of my recent areas of research include spiritual care for climate-crisis related grief and anxiety, as well as interdisciplinary supports around death, dying, and bereavement. I hold undergraduate degrees in Judaic Studies and Studio Art from Binghamton University, and spent the years leading up to rabbinical school working for a variety of Jewish experiential programs as an educator, program developer, and logistics coordinator.
I am a certified Yoga Teacher and avid plant-lover, and I wrote my rabbinic thesis on Biblical Botany. When not at work, I enjoy tending to my many (many) plant babies and spending time with my very enthusiastic pit mix, Luna.
