MEET

Rabbi Jonathan Posner

Hey there! I'm Jonathan Posner, the rabbi of Base Logan Square and a proud Chicagoan. I received my ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, and before that cooked at many fancy restaurants in Chicago. I've built my Jewish life upon food and a commitment to radical hospitality to serve Jews of all stripes. Prior to Base, I have worked with Congregation Rodfei Zedek and Mishkan Chicago, the Park Slope Jewish Center, and BBYO. I also had the honor of studying under Rabbi Benay Lappe of SVARA, a queer-oriented, "traditionally radical" yeshiva in Chicago.My wife and I raise a super rad kiddo, Baila, together and sometimes even sleep! I love plucking out grooves on my Jazz bass, have trained as a shochet (Kosher butcher), am a dutch-oven bread baker, and aspire one day to be a candlestick maker.
