Dr. Penny Joel

Dr. Penny Joel is an experiential Jewish educator. She is inspired by students’ enthusiasm, passion and curiosity when they are given real opportunities to engage in their Jewish learning in meaningful ways. Penny enjoys exploring and learning a wide array of Jewish topics with people from all backgrounds. She has served as the Director of Experiential Jewish Education at the Pardes Center for Jewish Educators and has taught at numerous educational institutions. Penny has taught classes in Jewish Law, Bible, Jewish History, Jewish Philosophy and various other subjects and has been involved in a vast array of innovative education initiatives in schools, summer camps and other experiential education programs. She received her Doctorate in Jewish Education at the Azrieli School of Jewish Education at Yeshiva University, an MS Ed in Early Adolescent Education from the Bank Street College of Education. Penny lives in Jerusalem and in her free time she loves to bake, travel and take advantage of cultural experiences around Israel and other places she visits. She is a night person so the time difference is rarely a challenge.
