MEET

Rabbanit Yael Keller

Hi! My name is Yael Keller and I am a 4th year rabbinical student at Yeshivat Maharat and the Director of Education and Religious Engagement at the Ann Arbor Orthodox Minyan. I am a community builder, deep lover of Torah and social justice activist. I love engaging in Torah Study with others and I embrace opportunities for teaching and learning within a variety of community settings. As a mother to three young children I enjoy thinking about how to structure family life around the Jewish calendar and holidays and using these rituals and experiences to enrich our family life. I teach a class on the weekly Torah parsha and enjoy looking at our Torah stories from many different angles, focusing on the world of midrash and chasidut. My work in many social justice organizations reflects my strong belief in building an equitable and just society. I am committed to using what our tradition teaches us to support and enhance these efforts in both education and programming. Last year I completed her first unit of Clinical Pastoral Education and plans to continue to explore this important work and how to best serve those in need of spiritual care in a medical context. Before beginning Rabbinical School I earned a Masters in Public Policy from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management and a Masters in Jewish Professional Leadership at the Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program at Brandeis University. When I am not thinking about Torah, I enjoy baking, gardening, and family camping/hiking adventures. My husband, three children and I just moved to Michigan last July and look forward to exploring new great outdoor experiences this summer!
